Lorenzo was born on 29 February 1893 in Knox County, OH to Samuel and Margaret Burkholder.[1][2] He enlisted with the 4th O.V.I. on 3 June 1861 for three years service and mustered out in 1864 with the Regiment.[3] In Feburary of 1868, he married Mary E. Adams in Logan County, Ohio.[4] By 1870, he was working as a Degarian Artist, and the couple had their first child Zula.[5] For an unknown reason, his wife and children are listed on the 1880 census, but he is not.[6] He died on 23 October 1893 of paralysis and was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Delaware, Ohio.[1]
